http://www.howtovape.com/ – How to vape is an excellent source for all of your questions.
What’s in a name?
E-cigarettes have many names, and we’ll use these interchangeably. E-cig, E-cigarette, Vape, Vape Device, Vape Machine, Vaporizer, Personal Vaporizer.
Not sure where to begin?
It’s ok if you are unsure of which e-cigarette to purchase. There can be a lot of confusion in regards to all of the products available and their varying configurations and size. If you are completely uninitiated, and are looking for your very first vaping device, we recommend a simple starter kit (ego ce4). With low cost, and simple features, it’s the easiest, simplest and most affordable way to get into vaping. We’ve found that once you have your new e-cigarette in your hand, the rest will come naturally. It’s as simple as charge, fill, & vape. Of course, if you still have questions, simply send us an email, and we’ll help you with any issues or confusion you may have.
If you are completely new potential vaper, we recommend sticking with a simple starter kit to get your feet wet, keep your costs down, and give you the opportunity to see if vaping is for you – and more importantly: to actually have it in your hand, physically setting it up for the first time and using your new vape machine will show you how simple it can be. It’s a lot less intimidating than it may appear, and the confusion you may be experiencing will disappear instantly once you are actually holding it.
Already a vaper?
If you are already vaping, we recommend having an extra kit around in case you lose your primary vape, the battery dies, you run out of liquid, or any other number of things that could happen. The general rule of thumb is “Two is one, and one is none.”. Always have a backup. Likewise, if you already vape, you’ve likely experienced someone, a friend, a co-worker, a relative, or even a complete stranger ask to try it. Having an extra kit around (particularly one with a changeable drip tip), can keep your vape in your hand, while opening someone else up to vaping, and you might turn them on to something new to help them replace smoking with vaping.
If you are looking for an upgrade to replace your tank, clearomizer or battery, we carry a variety of upgrades, many that will work with your initial starter kit. If you are unsure of any product combination, please email us. Protanks and Vivi Nova’s are excellent upgrades when you are ready to move beyond a basic ce4 clearomizer, and ego twists are an excellent upgrade to a standard ego battery.
Looking for something to separate your vape machine from the rest?
We carry a variety of cases to hold your equipment, drip tips to personalize and customize your tanks, charms, lanyards and colored batteries and tanks. View our accessories here.
Interested in Mods & APVs (Advanced Personal Vaporizers)?
Mods and APVs are typically for more experienced users, who are looking to upgrade from a standard e-cigarette. We carry a variety of low cost mods and APVs, from mechanical to variable voltage and variable wattage devices. Many of these devices come with both a 510 and an ego connection to handle many of the clearomizers and tanks we carry. If you are a new vaper, and are unfamiliar with these terms, we recommend purchasing a starter kit until you become more comfortable with vaping devices. If you are unsure of any particular combination of devices will work together, please send us an email and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Still have questions?
As we said earlier, it’s ok to have questions or to be confused. Simply send us an email and we’ll point you in the right direction.
What is Vaping?
Vaping is the process of inhaling vapor.
How is it different from smoking actual cigarettes?
Smoking is completely different from vaping. Smoking requires combustion. When you smoke, you are inhaling gases produced by the combustion of tobacco leaves, combined with thousands of other harmful chemicals. Vaping is inhaling vapor that is produced by heating up the e-juice.
Cigarette Chemicals VS. E-juice Chemicals
Almost everyone knows that cigarettes contain thousands of harmful, carcinogenic chemicals. Here is a short list of a few of them:
◦Acetone – found in nail polish remover
◦Ammonia – a common household cleaner
◦Arsenic – used in rat poison
◦Formaldehyde – found in fluid used to embalm corpses
◦Lead – used in batteries
◦Tar – found in material used for paving roads
The e-juice, however, contains 2 chemicals:
◦Propylene Glycol(PG) – Recognized as “Safe” by the FDA. Used as a food additive. It is also found in asthma inhalers.
◦Vegetable Glycerin(VG) – Simply known as Glycerin. VG is a natural sweetener. It is also found in cough syrups, toothpaste, and mouthwashes
PG/VG may or may not contain nicotine. Nicotine is added with PG/VG in different strengths, usually 8, 12, 18, and 24 (mg/ml). There are different mixtures for e-juices. The more common mixture is 70/30 (PG/VG). 50/50 is also available to produce more vapor. VG ONLY-based juices are also available. E-juice generally also contains food flavor additives.
E-cigarette Components
Depending on the kit that you purchase, there are usually 3 parts in an e-cigarette:
A. Battery – The part that powers the entire unit. There are different battery varieties, differentiated in capacity (mAh), functionality, and sizes. Some have adjustable voltage output in order to power higher resistance(ohms) atomizers.
B. Atomizer – The part that heats up the e-juice.
C. Cartridge/Clearomizer/Tank – This is where the e-juice is stored, which is then fed to the atomizer.
Difference between Cartridges/Cartomizers/Clearomizers
A. Cartridge – Connected to the atomizer. It only stores around 0.5ml. of e-juice, so you constantly have to keep dripping e-juice.
B. Cartomizer – Atomizer and cartridge assembled as one. The advantage is that cartomizers have changeable atomizers if it needs cleaning, or if it dies. Usually holds about 1ml of e-juice.
C. Clearomizer – Same concept as a cartomizer. It does, however, have a clear tank so you can see how much e-juice you have left. Clearomizers also have bigger tanks(from 1.5ml to 6ml) so you can store more e-juice.
How long does an e-cigarette last (life)?
Perhaps this is one of the most common question asked by new users. The life of each component of an e-cig will vary, depending on usage and how it is maintained.
A. Battery Life Span – Again, a life span of a battery will vary depending on usage. An average battery should last anywhere from 250-300 charge cycles. So if you vape a lot and charge everyday, a battery would last you 250-300 days.
B. Atomizer – An atomizer life span varies anywhere from 3 weeks up to more than a month, depending on usage and how you take care of your atomizer. We have users that had atomizers die after 3 weeks, and some claiming they have reached 2 months.
